I have been complaining alot of about my weight to my DH and I've had enough. I need to get in shape now that spring is on it's way. Get rid of this winter weight. So I'm going to start my walking again. I was doing it over the winter on our treadmill but very speratic.
So I decided that for the month of March I am going to walk every single day. Last night I started. Did 2kms in 1 hour. Today was.....don't know, I did a program on the treadmill called Fat Burn. It was for a half a hour. It keep the speed at 3km but inclines moved from 2% to 5%. For the week I am going to keep up the Fat Burn program at 35mins, next week going to go for 45 mins and 55 mins the following week, you catch my drift.
Next issue is my love of junk food. Did I menion how much I LOVE JUNK FOOD! It's my worst enemy at times. I did well when DS#1 was 2yrs old, only had it once/week as a treat for eating healthy all week. Found that I didn't even want it then, so it wasn't a big deal to eat it. Now, I'm at least twice/week. Going to try to go back to the once/week to give me something to look forward to while I am trying to cut out all the crap the rest of the week. We'll see how it goes :P
I LOVE JUNK FOOD!

Holy Jeepers
Yikes!
I am terrible at this blogging stuff. Was doing well for a while then just got soooooooooooooo lazy and forgetful. I see my DH's niece's blog once in a while and I am so impressed with hers that I want to keep up with mine. Then, I loose all ambition.
I decided to use this again cause of something I read on someones post on FB tonight. They were annoyed that they couldn't smoke on long flights (from Toronto to Ireland for example). Someone then replied that pilots do it why can't they. The original poster then started to say how (I'm paraphrasing here) not fair it is that pilots can smoke and they (passengers) can't. The pilots get paid lots hence why the tickets cost so much to fly. That response was what drove me over the bend to respond. The poster then said he always thought that pilots got paid crazy money. But wanted us to relax cause he was just stating a opinion. Which is true. I wasn't offended, just a pet peeve of mine that pilots make lots of good $$$$.
SO after this posting on FB I wanted to get out what I observed DH went through to get where he is today.(edited version :P) He started at the age of 12, signed up for Air Cadets. Started gliding when he was 14, then moved up to engines after that around 18 (?? don't know exact age:P) and has been working his ass off ever since. Not only did he have to pay for lessons, he had to have hours. The more hours the better. Missed birthdays, Easters (only been home for two of them for the past 7 yrs), Thanksgiving dinners. Hasn't missed a Xmas, but that is because he's been really lucky with his employers. Others are not that lucky.
He spent 10s of thousands of dollars, paying back bank loans on just to take flying lessons. He put in 8yrs of working nights and on call flying jobs. Kind of missed first 3 yrs of oldest DS's life cause he had to sleep all day and didn't get up till 4pm and maybe saw him for 4 hrs b4 DS had to go to bed. I know, I know you're going to say what do u expect. I signed up for it, but doesn't mean I had to like it. I don't mind it, some days. It can be the loneliest thing, but yet makes u feel independent too. He paid his dues, put up with shitty employers and shitty co-workers and crappy hours. The worst was the on call I think. We had to live 15mins away from the airport and once he got the page he had 15 mins to get to work. Middle of the night or 12 noon, once he got the call he had to go. Sucked even more when we didn't have two cars. SIGH.
I now am a stay at home mom. We have a house and one car. No debt other than the mortgage (thanks to DH and his $$ saving skills) and I am thankful of that. We could get a bigger house, but then I'd have to go back to work. Get another car, pay for more insurance, daycare costs, etc, etc.
Don't get me wrong, some pilots make good $$, but that doesn't mean that they didn't have to pay for it like other professions (like plumbers, electricians, teachers or bank managers). I think I just get annoyed when ppl don't ask questions, they just assume.
So that is my rant for now:P Let's see how long I can keep up with the blogging.

July 2010
So far this summer has succeeded, in my mind, as one of the hottest that I can remember. Whew, it's humid out there. Last week was a indoor week. Which kind of sucked. Boring more like it. I like to be outside, but when it makes my eyes water and create this lovely film so I can't see, it's time to go in. I am not going to complain (though I can really do without the humidity). We have been keeping busy with daily tasks, like going to the park, going to walks. Nothing too exciting yet. Hoping to get to Canada's Wonderland this Aug. Just got to get together with some friends to see if they want to go too. That way DS1 has some friends to go on the rides with him :) I would like to go to the local zoo too. It's not big but very shady in spots and it can be done in 45mins so DS2 can come too without him getting too hot or worn out or bored by being in the stroller the whole time. DH is up north for the next 3 days. They don't have night time up there right now. The sun does set but it's like a twilight for 4 hrs then the sun is back up again. Kind of neat to see. Hope he gets some pictures of it. Small town as well, he can bike or walk the whole thing.
Two friends are getting married this summer/fall. Jack and jill's for both are this summer. Hope to get to the one next weekend. Even if DH is working I am determined to get there. Haven't seen the couple in 2 yrs now. Shame on me for that. The other couple I haven't seen since DS2 was born. Theirs is next month. Jack and Jill's are interesting things. It's a party you pay to get in, spend $$ on drinks, spend $$ on prizes that u 'might' win, but the nice thing is that the $$ goes towards the couple to help pay for the wedding. So that is not so bad, unless you are on a budget like me. Well I don't really have a budget, I have no $$ to have a budget with :P I am excited to get out and see some old friends (highschool and even some grade school buddies)

Earthquake 2010
I lived through the Earthquake of 2010. LOL. I can joke about it now cause it wasn't as bad as most can be. It was about a 5 on Richter Scale. Enough to move my bed (which I was sitting in, reading a book) and slightly shake my mirror and some stuff in my closet. It was weird. I thought it was my eyes at first, something wrong with them. Then I heard stuff moving. I then was thinking it was either DH walking around downstairs or someone how moving the wall behind the bed. Then I repeated that last part again, in my head. How could he be moving a brick wall like that, so easily? I hopped up, off the bed, stood there and listened for DS2. He had just been put down for his afternoon nap and literally got rocked to sleep :) I went downstairs and noticed that DH was not in the house, he was outside. Thinking he must of felt the rocking I went out to talk to him. He said he didn't feel a thing. So then I start saying maybe I had a seizure. I was trying to convince myself I wasn't crazy, but no way we had a earthquake. DH said "Why not? There is a big fault in Lake Ontario." That perked my attention. I went back inside and jumped on my Facebook and put it in my status on what happened. Sure enough, A LOT of others started putting stuff on their status lines about the rocking and rolling that just happened. Then the news came on with a report that we DID in fact have a earthquake. Last one was in 1998, a 5.4, so you can see that we don't get them often. It was pretty big too, like being felt across the province and some states wise.

18 years old is too young to die
I just read in our local paper that a 18 yr old boy passed away on Monday night. So sad. The cause (they speculate) is drunk driving and cell phone use. How the poor boy actually died is quite tragic. He crashed his car (drunk driving), got out, started walking (and using cell phone) then got hit by a van towing a camper. The families of both these people..........I have no idea what they are going through right now.
This accident did take me back to my teenage years when a fellow teenager decided to get in a car with a drunk driver and he lost his life at 17. What a sad day that was. I knew the kid (not socially, just acquaintances) from elementary school and for him to loose his life when he was doing so well, and accomplishing so much, was hard to accept. I did shed a few tears in respect for him and his family. He was just drafted to the OHL (Ontario Hockey League) and was going to become a great hockey player. Something else thought differently. His family seen to be doing ok these days, things are moving along. Not the way they were before, but slowly moving forward for them. His sister went to university last I heard and was doing well there. His Mom still owns the beauty shop in town. Has a HUGE poster of him in his hockey uniform in her shop. His Dad opened a small restaurant/bar in town and named it after his son.
Scary to think that in this day and age drunk driving is still happening. I just pray that my kids will take heed in situations like this and maybe just call me. Or someone else (anyone, friend, neighbour) who is sober to get them home safe. I hope I raise them well enough so that they will think a bit ahead before something like this happens to them.

DS2's birthday
DS2 had his first birthday on Monday. Party was the Saturday before, just family over (aunts/uncles/grandparents). Nothing fancy, just a small get together. Kiddo had lots of fun with his presents. His older brother and cousin helped with the ripping open the presents and he seemed to enjoy everything he got. Actually scratch that, he does enjoy them. He's been playing with every thing he got since the day he got them. We got him a few things on Monday for him to open, then off we went to DS1's baseball game.
Thought we were having a game till DH got a phone call saying that it's just picture day and there won't be a practice or a game. We decided that we might have a quick game with our team so we can get some practice. Shouldn't take that long to take pictures. So out we go, noticing that the sky is starting to cloud up. Not really thinking anything about it cause the weather man said no rain till Wednesday. It gets darker and darker, sitting on the grandstand waiting for others to come, it starts, just a drizzle. I'm not worried, it's just a drizzle it'll stop. Then it starts to get a bit more heavy. That is when I realize I am wearing a white shirt. FRICK! Thank heavens for a nice mother sitting next to me offered her extra umbrella. The rest of the team starts showing up by then and down the rain comes. Felt bad for the photographer, he was a really good sport through it. The kids LOVED it, of course :) By the time we go through all the kids, getting their individual pictures and team pictures, the rain stops. Everyone was soaked and we all decided that we wouldn't have a practice/game after all. Too wet. So by 7:30pm we were home. (usually done by 8 pm) Babysitter got to go home a hour early so that was nice. DS2 was glad to see us, he's been fussy that day with is teething, so Mommy carrying him around seems to be his only comfort these days. Poor boy. Soon those darn things will be in.
Just found out that the G8/G20 that is in Toronto at the end of this month might have a bit of a issue. 12 Police uniforms were stolen. Scary stuff! Who knows what that person will do with them. Hope it isn't too bad.
DH is out of town for two days. In NJ. Then Ft. Lauderdale this weekend. He DOES NOT like the heat. So he'll be in the A/C room I think. We have a birthday party for a neighbour's DD, at the park/beach in Oshawa if the weather holds up. Here's to hoping :) DH brought back some great shirts and ball caps for the boys from Spain last week. He brought back lots of photos of the great architecture there too. So neat how some buildings are curved! Defiantly one place I would love to visit. Though I must remind myself that it is Europe. Lots of topless women on the beaches there I heard and some nude beach parts as well. The food is fantastic there too, DH said.
I am glad it's spring/summer here, at least this time of year I can get out with the boys to the local parks, once winter hits, it's a different story. Need another set of wheels by then. Meh, not really, been saving a lot of $$ by not being able to get to any stores any time I want :) And the walking is good for me and the kids. Some aerobic exercise.
Enough of that for now, sorry, kind of boring today. Don't live the most exciting life. Should keep a book with me and write down little tidbits that float around this head of mind. Tend to forget what I want to write about when I get on here :P

Pilot's wife
I tell you it's sometimes hard being a Pilot's wife. The places DH gets to go makes me green with envy. ( just got back from Spain for 4 days) But I do get to stay at home with the kiddies and make sure they have at least one parent home with them. Available at any time, but what I wouldn't give to go away somewhere :) I am glad I'm not working. Don't know how I'd be able to handle it. I don't know how others do it! I would be racked with guilt for not spending enough time with them. Then the running of a house on top of that. BLAH. I hate running my house now and I'm here every day. Some days are better than others. Today was a rainy, gloomy day, hence why I might be in the funk I'm in.
Best Wishes.
